"Privacy is a Basic Human Right"-Big Tech

Updated: Aug 1

With regard to things I've taken for granted in my lifetime, PRIVACY, without question takes the #1 spot. I'm a fairly private person to begin with. I don't really do social media and I avoid being the center of attention. I really had no idea how much I valued my privacy until I lost it, or shall I say it was taken from me. Which brings me to the means in which my privacy was first compromised. It began with my private wi-fi network being breached by a (now) former neighbor in January ‘22. Password protection was then bypassed on my iPhone, MacBook, & eventually sensitive data stored within my iCloud account was remotely accessed. That's just the start, but it's where it began. For inquiring minds no I did not give anyone my Apple ID/password or access to any of my devices.

Over a 3 year time span I sought help from Apple Support on dozens of occasions. Each support case had an issue varying from the next that needed to be addressed. All had the same common goal: regain my privacy, my "basic human right". Full disclosure, while I never received much help by way of cyber security, I can say that nearly everyone I spoke with (& yes, cried to) at Apple, regardless of rank or department were very kind and sympathetic toward my situation. Shout out & many thanks to them. That said, Apple keeps your privacy at arms length, as well as cyber security breaches. They bury your login credentials so deep they couldn't access them if they wanted to. That goes for sensitive data as well. For instance, I've requested, obtained, and downloaded my Apple Privacy Data about a half dozen times. Each time, my data depicts an unknown "iMessage phone" synced with my Apple ID, accessing my iMessages. The Apple data only provides the last 2 digits of the phone number but, according to Apple Support, they have no way of accessing the entirety of the number. Therefore, despite this phone number logged within my Apple Account's Data, and without this phone number not visible on any of my devices, or account login page, I have do not have options to reveal the number.

I've attached reference pic below.

I'm no lawyer, I suppose Apple's hear no evil, see no evil guideline would be a legitimate strategy from a legal perspective. When it comes to Apple's "secure" devices however, I think when it comes to Apple Account holders' "basic human right" to privacy being taken away.... they should & could give more of a shit, That's just my thoughts. ✌️
